What is the EMV Chip Card?

An EMV chip card is a kind of smart payment card that has an electronic chip with a microprocessor. Rather than collecting data on the magnetic strip, these cards are stored on the integrated circuits in the EMV chip. Whenever a transaction is done through these cards, a dynamic data is provided which makes it almost impossible for cloning or duplicate and fraudulent activities.

These chips also have the ability to keep loyalty information that can be used to earn and redeem loyalty points in participating traders. The account holder can apply to upgrade his card by logging his card into his internet banking account or going to the home branch.
